This is a moderately challenging hike with good views of the mountains and a chance to see interesting plants and animals. This hike will take you some of Banff National Park’s most scenic lakes and incredible mountain views.
Initially, the trail steadily climbs through the forest with long drawn out switchbacks. Eventually, the trail opens with a scenic waterfall formed by the creek.
Continue your climb until you reach Rockbound Lake surrounded by the cliffs of Castle Mountain.
8am- meet at café in town to discuss the trip plan.
9am- meet at the trailhead ready to go. Head out on the trails for 4 - 6 hours of enjoyable hiking at the pace which suits the rest of the group, taking time to marvel at the beautiful views that surround you.

Derek Eaton-Loken
Derek Eaton-Loken is a hiker, a climber, and a nature geek.
Originally from small-town Ontario, Derek first came to western Canada after completing the Outdoor Adventure program at Algonquin College and hasn’t looked back since. Spending hundreds of days in the backcountry, Derek has developed a strong appreciation for Canada’s National Parks and loves to share their beauty and wonder. Derek is a professional hiking guide and part of the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides. Derek currently lives in Canmore, Alberta and when not out hiking you'll find him at the local climbing gym.
