Adventure Therapy is a form of counseling that incorporates traditional talk therapy with the healing aspects of nature and physical activity.
Traditionally Ecotherapy is based on the idea that people are connected to and impacted by the natural environment. A growing body of research highlights the positive benefits of connecting with nature. Participants who spend time in nature report less anger, stress, anxiety, and depression, and more positive emotions such as overall wellbeing.
Many other studies help to demonstrate the positive effects of nature on both physical and mental health. Health care providers are also starting to give their patients “nature prescriptions” to help treat a variety of medical conditions, from post-cancer fatigue to obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes.
